What Causes Diastasis Recti?
The birthing process puts a lot of pressure on your abdomen muscles. The abdominal area is made of left and right ab muscles that are separated by a thin line of connective tissue called the linea alba. During pregnancy, these muscles are pushed outward and stretched to make room for the baby.
A diastasis recti occurs when the linea alba is overstretched and unable to go back to normal. This causes the abdominal muscles to remain separated.
